About me..

I am currently a Trustee of the “Wherry Maud Trust.” The trust was established in 2015 “To maintain, preserve and operate for the benefit of the public the Wherry ‘Maud’, to advance the education of the public concerning Norfolk wherries and their historic and cultural role in Norfolk and Suffolk Broads and to provide training in the skills necessary to maintain, preserve and sail them.”
The wherry “Maud” formed a huge chunk of my life as I worked on her for 18 years with my husband Vincent to restore her and transform her into the beautiful example that she is today.
I started to give talks recently to raise awareness of the Trust’s work.

About my talks...

I have given talks to a variety of clubs and organisations. My talk is accompanied by a Power Point presentation with very interesting photographs. The talk lasts approximately 1 hour but length can be varied with prior notice. I can also bring a set of information boards with photos illustrating the life of the boat. Those interested can look at the photos at their leisure during the interval or after the talk.
I supply all of the equipment including a screen where necessary. All of my equipment is PAT compliant.

I can present my talk virtually using Zoom.

I do not charge a fee but ask for a donation of £40 (negotiable –  depending on size of group) for the work of The Wherry Maud Trust. For myself, I ask for reasonable travel expenses.

The story of Maud – A Norfolk Wherry

Maud is a very special wherry, the last of the typical clinker-built trading wherries to sail on the Norfolk Broads and Rivers, with a very chequered history. The talk gives an interesting narrative of Maud’s history, working life, restoration & current life, as well as detailing the work of the Trust.
