About the Speaker...

David Follett is 33 years old, but in 2007 he suffered a Road Traffic Accident which left him with a Spinal Cord Injury C6/C7 (chest down). After his accident he spent seven months in Salisbury Spinal Unit undergoing intense rehabilitation, before returning home and completed his education and gained a university degree. He now also represents England at Para Badminton and is ranked number 14 in the world and number 1 in England. David has two small children aged 5 & 3.

About his Talk...

The talk is popular with WI and other social groups and David has also spoken in schools.

Fee:

I charge £70.00 plus travelling expenses if the venue is more than ten miles from my home address. I am based in Exeter, Devon and I am prepared to travel to Devon, Somerset and Cornwall.

"Tragedy to Triumph"

David tells of his time in hospital after the accident, his rehabilitation, and his determination to live life to the full. He tells of the problems disabled people face in everyday life and how he has overcome these.He is the English national wheelchair badminton champion, he carried the Olympic torch, he demonstrated the exoskeleton suit and he has travelled the world.He is a fully qualified badminton coach and regularly visits schools and colleges.His talks are inspirational, interesting, informative and in parts amusing.
