Steven P. Taylor – Performance poet

His first book of poetry ‘Reflections’ is currently in its third print
His second collection ‘Reflections 2’ came out in March 2020
His third book ‘2020 vision’ is a collection of poems written during and about the year of Covid.
The proceeds of this book are all going to Bury Hospice.

He’s had his poem about Bury legend Victoria Wood read at the towns’ tribute to the star.
He also read a poem specially written for the Bury Christmas lights at the switching on ceremony.
He wrote and performed a specially written poem about ‘Bury town of culture’ at the launch of the town of culture at Bury Met
Most recently he wrote and performed a poem to go with a musical piece from the amazing former Stone Roses / Paul Weller band member Aziz Ibrahim.
He’s written for various local musicians and had his poetry read by other performers.
His first book was even mentioned at the installation ceremony of the new Mayor of Bury !
He has written several poems that were taken up by conservation and ‘green’ societies in the Bury area
His poems often turn up in magazines and anthologies.

Over the years he has worked with many stars of poetry (John Cooper Clarke, Henry Normal, Hovis Presley, John Hegley)
And many stars of comedy (Peter Kay, Jack Dee, Jo Brand etc)

His first book is an eclectic mix of themes, topics and styles and is available from WHSmith in Bury also from Wax and Beans, Bury, Tottington Post office, The Brook Ramsbottom or direct through his web site. The other books just available through website at present

About Their Talks...

I do poetry readings of themes right across the spectrum, many of which being humourous and covering multiple subjects.
The themes are tailored to suit the particular audience.
I can perform for any duration but mainly do a set of around one hour.



Fees are dependant on size of audience and available funds.
I usually charge £60 for daytime events and £90 for evening events.
These fees are negotiable and I will always try to accommodate a genuine budget.
Travel is extra if over 10 miles

Poetry Readings By Steven P Taylor

Steven is constantly performing around his local area, often supporting name musicians and bands.
In Feb 2020 Steven performed at Liverpool’s Cavern club and also headlined his own sell out show at Bury Met.
He returns to The Met on 24 Feb 2022.

Steven’s style has been described as a cross between John Cooper Clarke and Pam Ayers!
Steven writes and talks much about his beloved Lancashire and Manchester, whether nostalgic or political and also writes many comic poems.

His live shows are tailored to the type of audience.
