About Their Talks...
About ‘Swimming in Suburbia’
I’ve always written poetry and prose, and did a trial Stand Up act at The Actors & Writers Workshop in Hammersmith. This made me think about getting all my writing together and presenting it to the public at large. . Having looked at my back catalogue as it were, I realised that there was a distinctive theme to my writing. They say you should write about what you know – well, as I am a woman living in Suburbia, it wasn’t difficult to work out the theme of my piece. So – Swimming in Suburbia is a compilation of poems and prose celebrating women and Suburbia. Taking a wry look at Family Life, Food, snobberies, Aspirations and all things suburban. ( men get a look in too! ) If you want to know why it’s called Swimming in Suburbia, you’ll have to come to the show!
Just wanted to send a quick note to thank you for your presentation of poems and prose on Monday. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it – the ripples of laughter throughout the evening was lovely to hear. Your style of presentation was a joy to behold and definitely raised the spirits of all there!

Just a quick note to thank you again for entertaining us all with your stories and poems yesterday. I’ve received nothing but good feed back and with your permission I’d like to pass your details with our recommendation to our WI Advisor so that she can circulate your details to other WI’s in Surrey.
I hope you enjoyed your Zoom experience with us and that you will be able to perform for many other WI’s in the future.
We loved your stories and poems.
All agreed that there was something for everyone, funny, thoughtful, delightfully silly

A note to say Thank You so much for sharing your wonderful production Swimming In Suburbia with The Barn, we thoroughly enjoyed it and enjoyed working with you. Such clever writing. The poems are just brilliant – and they all captured Suburbia so well! I loved your version of IF and Mandy and Day Return and Sweet FA!! All brilliantly delivered by you. A really lovely, fun piece that has been very well received, lots of positive feedback from the committee. It was a real treat. And we made a tidy profit too, which is fantastic and enormously appreciated at the moment.
We very much look forward to working with you again, and with restrictions slowly being lifted perhaps we can look to putting on something similar in the future in the theatre with an actual audience! Imagine that! We will stay in touch and do let us know if that is something that appeals.
With our thanks and very best wishes
