About me...

I am a retired Sports Coach and have been a member of Toastmasters International for over four years. I won their area Humorous Speech Competition in 2017 and came second in 2018. Since my retirement I have spent many hours fund raising for various charities. I started Public Speaking about six years ago and have spoken to many groups over these years.

I hate wasting time and am usually very busy. I organise two monthly walks for the U3A and also walk with friends. I play the ukulele and piano – not very well but enjoy practicing from time to time. I am an avid reader mainly of thrillers. I paint stones and hide them to raise awareness of D.I.P.G. As age took its toll and I could no longer play Netball I started playing darts and play for a local team. I also run a darts group for the U3A. My son has a rare illness and I run the North East Support Group for Vasculitis. I enjoy gardening and growing my own flowers and vegetables. When I give my talks I always ask for feedback and can supply copies to anyone who is interested.

ANDREW’S JOURNEY

This begins with an often amusing account of Andrew’s life prior to his struggle to be diagnosed with Wegners Granulomatosis, his sheer determination and courage trying to fight the illness and not let it take over his life.  How he has won many awards and the admiration of his five Consultants and fellow sufferers on his journey. His motto is: – “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”.

The talk is approx  approximately 45 minutes in length including the power point display. It contains humour as well as serious content. I have spoken at Lion’s and Rotary Clubs. Probus, Church Groups, WI’s and U3A’s.  I will bring my own computer however, I will need a screen.

"THERE'S NOWT AS QUEER AS FOLK"

A talk full of funny stories combined with amusing verses. I published two books last year. The second one I self-published and contains 87 poems from some of the most talented humorous poets in the North East. The book is called ” A Book Of Verses To Make You Smile. One of my poets is 94 and has been an actress all her life appearing in all the well known soaps and When The Boat Comes In. She took a star role in Dirty Dusting and has also written two plays which have been performed in theatres throughout the Country. Her poems are extremely funny and will be included in my talk. If you need cheering up this is the talk for you.

This is a stand alone presentation, I don;t use any props.
