Marie Curie Charity

Founded in 1948 and named after the famous scientist, Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity provider of end of life care. During 2019 we were able to directly support over 60,000 people. Our speakers aim to give you an insight into the support Marie Curie provides to individuals and their families facing terminal illness. Providing beneficiary accounts, and details around our wide range of services from expert nursing care, our information and support line, our campaigning and ground-breaking research. Tailoring our talks to reflect what is available in your area, as well as giving you a national perspective.

Marie Curie Nurses

If you are located within an area where we provide nursing coverage, our Marie Curie talks will have a focus on services which are provided in your area as well as people’s experiences of the support they have received.
We will still include a general overview of what we do as a charity, as covered above within the Marie Curie Charity talk.

We will be able to confirm with you if nursing coverage is provided within your area when you request your talk. If nursing coverage is not provided, please still invite us as we still do so much more which benefits your members and community.

Our hospices are in Hampstead, Cardiff, Solihull, Newcastle, Liverpool, Bradford, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast.

Marie Curie Information & Support and Bereavement Line

This is a free nation-wide service which people can access online or via their phones, and yet not many people are of them.

Our Marie Curie talks will have a stronger focus on services and the impact it is having on those who reach out to us for support.

We will still include a general overview of what we do as a charity, as covered above within the Marie Curie Charity talk.

People can speak to a Marie Curie Nurse, via the Support Line, about a clinical question or concern. The service will be staffed by the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team based at the Marie Curie Hospice, Cardiff and the Vale. These nurses will be known as Information and Support Nurses or Support Line Nurses. This picture was taken in February 2019.
