About me...

I have a background in teaching including the Headship of a primary school in North Somerset. On taking early retirement from the teaching profession I was able to take up my hobby of conjuring on a full time basis. As well as being a Member of The Inner Magic Circle I have lectured and entertained throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A and the UK. I have also lectured and appeared at The Magic Castle, Hollywood on five occasions and presented my Close Up Magic Show there on just over 100 occasions. I have also been able to present my magic for some of the U.K’s leading companies at trade exhibitions and other corporate events. On leaving the teaching profession I used my experience in education to devise THE MAGIC OF SCIENCE show. Since its inception some twenty years ago I have visited over 600 primary and secondary schools throughout the UK. As you will see below, this is also an alternative to my ART OF THE MAGICIAN talk. During my teaching career I was very active in encouraging children to participate in sporting events and was awarded the MCC Cricket Coaching Certificate and was thrilled to receive it from the world famous cricketer Sir Garfield Sobers. I also trained and obtained my football referee’s qualification. I am married, have two grown up children and three grandchildren.

Whether you are a member of Rotary, Probus, Ladies’ Oganisations, Civic Societies, History Clubs, U3A or some similar organisation The Art of The Magician might be just what you are looking for. The Art of The Magician is a visual talk/presentation that explores various aspects of the magician’s art in an entertaining way. As well as showing some of the ‘tricks of the trade’ I will talk about some of the famous magicians of the past, such people as Harry Houdini, The Piddingtons, David Nixon, Chan Canasta, Tommy Cooper et al. No special stage, lighting or venue is required, A room in a house, a hotel or hall that will accommodate the required number of people is all that is needed. Questions are invited during the presentation. The use of two tables of about card table size will be appreciated. Preparation time is about five minutes

THE MAGIC OF SCIENCE

When I retired from the teaching profession I devised The Magic of Science which I have presented in over 600 primary and secondary schools throughout the U.K. In the show I demonstrated to children simple practical ideas in science they could try themselves and which enabled them to see that science could be fun. During my talk I will show you some of the items from the show and recount a few of the amusing episodes I experienced as a primary school teacher. In fact by the end of the presentation you will be itching to try out some of these science fun ideas on your children and grandchildren when you get home The Magic of Science is a visual talk I often give when making a return visit to a club. Many of the ideas are taken from two books I have had published.

Testimonials & Reviews

‘The group absolutely loved Tony’s talk! They were a bit sceptical about a magic show at first but this was so much more than a magic show! They all came out expressing how much they enjoyed it.
We will definitely have him back for future events.
